The
Converter is made in two systems. The Standard and The Special Duty.
The purpose of these devices is to operate 3 phase motors on 1 phase
current.
It has become increasingly difficult to obtain 3 phase service
for 1 or 2 motors. Our product solves this problem. Our simple,
trouble free Converter fills this need.
OPERATES ANY STANDARD 9 OR 12 LEAD MOTOR ON 1 PHASE CURRENT.
THE STANDARD (Model S): this system is unique in that it
may be used with any type 3 phase motor. It may be either Wye or
Delta connected, salient or consequent polarity. It is made in either
230 or 460 volts. It connects to a standard 9 lead motor with no
alteration to the motor. It will produce approximately 90% full
H.P., and will usually produce 250% lock torque (1800 RPM motor).
The lock torque has never been any problem at all as long as the
starting voltage drop is minimal. This system is very satisfactory
for most applications. Many of these systems are operating pumping
units, injection pumps, air compressors and other oil field and
rural applications.
THE SPECIAL DUTY (Model SD): the essential difference between
Model S and the Model SD is that the oil filled (permanent) capacitance
is much greater in the Model SD. Some applications (For Example:
Close coupled centrifugal pumps or some sealed air or refrigeration
compressors) need as near full H.P. as possible. The higher in line
capacitance lowers the input current to the motor and allows the
motor to be loaded somewhat greater without overloading the motor
windings.
THE KR CONNECTIONS: This connection is for those motors
that bring out all 12 leads. The KR system will produce slightly
better starting and running torque than the 9 lead motor. It can
be used with both the Model S and the Model SD converters. It will
not apply on the 230 volt Delta connected motor, but will operate
well on the 460 volt Delta connected motor and also on 230 and 460
volts Wye connected motors.
THE STANDARD SYSTEM PERFORMS EXCEEDINGLY WELL ON 230 VOLT DELTA
CONNECTED MOTORS WHERE THE SPECIAL DUTY WILL NOT APPLY. THE CONVERTER,
BOTH THE STANDARD AND THE SPECIAL DUTY, ARE MANUFACTURED IN TWO
STRUCTURAL TYPES, THE PANEL MOUNT AND THE REMOTE MOUNT.
PANEL MOUNT:
This unit is manufactured to mount inside all wide case combination
and magnetic starter panels. (Pumping Unit Panel) This allows
the complete control to be in one unit, or the converter may
be purchased separately to install in the customers panel. |
|
REMOTE MOUNT:
This unit is manufactured to mount separate from the other control
equipment. The enclosure is a rain tight box, metal and corrosion
resistant. It has mounting brackets suitable for flat surface
or pole mounting. |

THE PATENTED PRIMARY RELAY RELIEF SYSTEM: The greatest improvement
of the Converter, as compared to other converters, is in our primary
capacitor relief system. The circuit is very sensitive to adjustment
and may be adjusted to extreme voltage variation. It will not flutter
or drop out with voltage changes. The motor can be overloaded to
stalling and the relay circuit will still maintain. This means that
the electrolytic capacitors will not return to the circuit and will
not be damaged even if the motor is stalled. In fact the relay circuit
will not deactivate no matter how low the voltage drops. The motor
must be shut down and started again to bring the electrolytic capacitors
back on. The motor and converter both receive protection. The motor
will not attempt to start again after stall, but revert to cut off
by the motor OL system. On the other hand if the motor is overloaded,
but not to the point of stall, the capacitors will still not return
to the circuit, but will lock out and not be damaged. The motor
will again revert to cut off by its OL system.
Low voltage and overload conditions have always been very troublesome
to other types of static converters.
WE BELIEVE WE HAVE DESIGNED A STATIC CONVERTER THAT IS AS NEAR
TROUBLE FREE AS THIS EQUIPMENT CAN BE MADE, WE GUARANTEE IT.
